Bermuda Finishes Tokyo Olympics
Bermuda Finishes Olympics
The Tokyo Olympics concluded on Aug. 8 with the official closing ceremony and Bermuda is among the 200 plus countries and regions that took part in the event. The Summer Olympics is an international multi-sport event that is held every four years. The Tokyo Olympics were originally scheduled to be held in 2020 but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Olympics Medal Table
The United States leads the all-time Summer Olympics medal table with over 2,500 medals. For the first time in decades, the United States did not lead the medal count at the Tokyo Olympics. Although the United States leads the all-time Summer Olympics medal table and the Soviet Union has the highest medal count in a single games, several have been stripped of medals for doping violations and other reasons. Finally, on a few occasions, the IOC has revoked a medal from an athlete found to have broken the rules and awarded it to another.
