De Rossi, a club legend who played for Roma for 18 years, was appointed to the role in the summer but has overseen a poor start to the campaign, with Roma losing three of their opening four Serie A games.
The decision to sack De Rossi was made by Roma's new sporting director, Tiago Pinto, who is keen to make a fresh start at the club.
De Rossi's sacking comes as Roma continue to struggle on the pitch. The club is currently 18th in Serie A, just one point above the relegation zone.
It is unclear who will replace De Rossi as coach of Roma's Under-19 side.
